Restorative Yoga is a calming, quietening yoga practice that brings the body and mind into a blissful state of balance. By using a variety of yoga props such as bolsters to support your body, the comfort and warmth of blankets and the reassuring support of the ground, this floor-based practice manipulates the nervous system to come into a state of rest. It is effective to help lower stress levels, improve sleep and boost mood, and the practice also helps lessen negative internal narratives that reinforce anxiety and depression as well as providing the physical benefits of long, gentle stretches.
Supported postures are each held for several minutes, aided by props, meaning the practice is highly accessible to everyone who can get on and off the floor without difficulty. Moving from flight and flight mode you will find your body take the parasympathetic response, otherwise known as “rest, digest & heal”, moving you deeper towards complete physical and mental relaxation. Bliss!
Nourish and Nurture Wellbeing Workshop, Saturday 1 - 4pm, October. date tbc.
Start the afternoon with 45 mins of nourishing yoga, followed by herbal teas and snacks, an hours talk and discussion about what is wellbeing and how can be improve ours, finshing the day with a 30 minute restorative yoga session.
