Yoga is for every body, and if you’re not flexible then it’s definitely for you!


I know that it can be intimidating, but it shouldn’t be. My classes are designed for you, for where you’re at today, whether that’s your first class or your 100th. Focusing on flexibility, relaxation, balance and strength, the positive effects of yoga practice on the body and mind can leave you feeling calm, centred and really in touch with your body and your true self.


I mainly teach a Vinyasa flow style practice with an emphasis on anatomy and making your practice work for your body, please see the bottom of this page for class descriptions. I offer alternatives and progressions in all classes so that everyone is able to enjoy their practice at their own pace. I have completed advanced training in back health and restorative yoga as well as also being a soft tissue and nutritional therapist, and so I encourage students to listen to, and really get to know, their bodies.

If you would prefer private classes tailored for you and your needs, these can be arranged in the comfort of your own home or in the studio in Stonely or Buckden. These can be very beneficial if you are completely new to yoga and don't know what to expect, if you are recovering from an injury, or you just prefer the personal touch! Please contact me to discuss your requirements.  (prices for 1:1 from £40 per hour.)

Please wear comfortable clothing and have an extra layer for savasana (relaxation).

You will need a yoga mat, and a firm blanket (non fleece) and if you are going to practice yoga regularly, would benefit form 2 yoga bricks and a yoga strap.

We practice yoga with bare feet.



The beginners class is suitable for beginners, those returning to yoga after a long break and anyone who prefers a more gentle practice. Numbers are small to ensure individual attention. We practice breathing, relaxation and focus on strength, balance and flexibility to ensure you get the most out of your practice. The classes are based on a gentle Vinyasa style where you move with the breath to flow between postures. 

You will be encouraged to explore the ways in which your body can move and the ways in which it feels challenged. The sessions are centred around understanding basic joint opening movements, breath work and how our body awareness impacts upon our daily habitual movements.

(Although a beginners class, because of the style of yoga that I teach (Vinyasa flow) you will need to be able to get up and down from the floor to take part in this class)


Vinyasa, also called flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together, is one of the most popular contemporary styles of yoga. It's a broad classification that encompasses many different types of yoga, where each movement is synchronised to a breath. The open class is for all levels although complete beginners would benefit from attending the beginners class for a few weeks first. Modifications and progressions are offered allowing you practice at your own level.


A more dynamic flow class designed for those that already have a regular yoga practice and are familiar with basic postures, sun salutations and have some body awareness.  It is an energetic and creative class, moving between Yoga postures dynamically. Expect a fast moving class which will awaken all areas of the body.

(Please note that the improvers class is not suitable for complete beginners) 


If your default state is stressed and knackered, then this is the class for you! Be prepared to be surprised by just how strong a yoga practice can be, and how calm and relaxed it can leave you feeling.

This is a strong class designed specifically for men, to lengthen your muscles, identify & build strength in weaker areas, prevent injury and prolong your fitness activities, as well as and introduce you to stress relieving mindful techniques to calm the nervous system. This is a strong practice incorporating strength, balance, and flexibility work with lots of Vinyasa flow.  Expect a fast moving class which will awaken all areas of the body!


This class is a blissful mixture of Restorative and Nidra yoga. Please see below for full descriptions.  


Restorative Yoga is a calming, quietening yoga practice that brings the body and mind into a blissful state of balance. The goal of this practice is to release muscle tension through the use of props and is suitable for anyone who can comfortably get up and down from the floor. Sequences typically consist of only five or six poses which are held for 5+ minutes and include light twists, seated forward folds and gentle backbends.

By using a variety of yoga props such as bolsters to support your body, the comfort and warmth of blankets, blocks, eye pillows and the reassuring support of the ground, this floor-based practice manipulates the nervous system to come into a state of rest. Moving from flight and flight mode you will find your body take the parasympathetic response, otherwise known as “rest, digest & heal”, moving you deeper towards complete physical and mental relaxation. Bliss!

Restorative Yoga calms the mind and emotions – it creates a sense of stillness and safety.

It also provides an antidote to excessive sympathetic nervous system dominance: chronically being in this state of high-alert causes muscle tension, digestive problems, sleep-disruption and increased blood pressure and sweating.

External stimuli are completely removed. You’re still, pleasantly warm and it’s dark (thanks to the eye pillow!).


This complete reduction in external stimuli allows the the body to move into parasympathetic nervous system dominance; the relaxation response. Heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, oxygen consumption, blood sugar levels and sweating all drop. Muscle tension is reduced and released. The levels of stress-related hormones such as cortisol drop. Blood flow to the brain is increased. Brain activity becomes slower and more synchronised. Relaxation supports the body’s vital systems – those systems which are responsible for our health and vitality such as the immune system, digestive system, and adrenals.

Restorative yoga creates a safe space for emotions and thoughts and feelings to arise and pass through.  You might cry. You might laugh. You might have a realisation where a limiting belief has come from, and with joy, gently wave it goodbye. It’s deep stuff. And takes a certain kind of bravery!


At the broadest level, yoga nidra is a deep, meditative state that is accessed through a guided class. It is one of the deepest relaxation states that humans can enter while still being awake, and its benefits include better sleep, reduced stress, increased energy, and better awareness.

Many people describe yoga nidra as a power nap on steroids—a way to push your body’s “reset” button. The most common reaction to the practice is shock at how rejuvenating and revitalising it is. Often people say they feel as rested after a 30 minute session as they do after a 3-hour nap!

Yoga nidra is not “yoga” as many of us know it. By that I mean that it isn’t a series of poses that you move through on a mat where you start on your feet and end in downward dog. Instead, yoga nidra skips most of this and goes straight to the savasana pose ('corpse pose, the one for deep relaxation after an invigorating class).

Yoga nidra works with your brain waves to induce your body and mind into a state that is somewhere between being awake and being asleep. This is a full-body meditative and relaxation practice. As a result, it takes a while to dive in fully.

For 30 mins I will guide you through several states of consciousness to help your brain achieve a new type of relaxation. As you move through these stages you’ll experience a deep stillness unlike anything you’ve felt before.

During yoga nidra, you lie on the mat supported by bolsters, with an eye pillow and covered in a blanket (if you wish) and are guided into the state of conscious deep sleep, the state between being asleep and awake. This is why it is said that yoga nidra is so restorative for the body. In yoga nidra, the body is in a restful state.

Aside from being relaxing, restorative and restful, studies have shown that yoga nidra can also:

  • Ease insomnia

  • Decrease anxiety

  • Alleviate stress

  • Reduce PTSD, chronic pain and chemical dependency

  • Heighten awareness and focus

  • Transform negative habits, behaviours and ways of thinking

  • Foster feelings of peace, calm, and clarity
